TheChinese Embassy and Lesotho Government held Signing Ceremony of the Framework Agreement between China and Lesotho Concerning the Provision of a Concessional Loan

On 1 March 2018, H.E. Dr. Sun Xianghua, Ambassador of China to Lesotho, attended the signing ceremony of the Framework Agreement between China and Lesotho concerning the provision of a Concessional Loan and signed the Framework Agreement with the Minister of finance Hon. Dr. Moeketsi Majoro, the Minister of Public Works and Transport Hon. Mliehe Prince Maliehe, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Hon. Halebonoe Sets'abi, Principal Secretaries, directors of different departments, and journalists, which amount to about 40peoplealso attended the ceremony.

In his remarks, Ambassador Sun indicated that the Government of China would provide a Concessional Loan to the Government of Lesotho for the Construction of the Ha Mpiti-Sehlabathebe Road under above-mentioned Agreement. The Road is a concrete outcome of the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit in Lesotho and also a tangible action showing China's determination and resolve in constructing a community of shared future for mankind as advocated by H.E President Xi Jinping. Once built, it will significantly promote the social and economic development of Lesotho and bring tangible benefits to Basotho.

Hon. Minister Dr. Moeketsi Majoro indicated in his remarks that the implementation of the project will help to complete the national ring road of Lesotho which is the long-term aspiration of the government and peopleof Lesotho, and will boost greatlythe tourism development,increase job creation,make the daily lives of the people along this road much easier. He extended on behalf of the government and people of Lesotho, most sincere appreciations to the government and people of China.

Hon. Minister Mliehe Prince Maliehe said this agreement shows that China attaches great importance to and support of the Lesotho Government's efforts in developing infrastructure and bettering people's lives.He also extended gratitude to China for the generous assistance.
