On October 7, Ambassador Yang Xiaokun was invited to attend the Sebabatso 2024 Conference. The event was jointly organized by the Office of the Prime Minister of Lesotho, the Ministry of Youth, and the United Nations Lesotho. The Right Honorable Prime Minister Matekane, several cabinet ministers, senior officials from various government departments, diplomatic corps in Lesotho, along with approximately 1,000 local citizens attended the conference.

During discussions with the Prime Minister and other dignitaries, Ambassador Yang emphasized that youth exchange and cooperation is an important component of the friendly cooperation between China and Lesotho. The Chinese side attaches great importance to helping Lesotho’s youth improve their vocational skills and entrepreneurial capacity. The Embassy has fully supported the Prime Minister’s initiative to empower youth, and this year has provided short-term training courses in China for 15 young Basotho entrepreneurs. China is willing to continue supporting Lesotho in enhancing its capacity for independent and sustainable development.

Ambassador Yang also had a friendly discussion with several young entrepreneurs who had returned to Lesotho after their training in China. He listened to their training experiences in China and their entrepreneurial work in Lesotho, encouraging them to continue their efforts in achieving personal development, building a better hometown, and contributing to deepening the friendship between China and Lesotho.
