H.E. Amb. Yang Xiaokun Attended Press Briefing on the 55th Anniversary of the Restoration of the PRC’s Lawful Seat in the United Nations and Commemoration Day of Taiwan’s Restoration
On October 27, the Chinese Embassy in Lesotho held a press briefing to mark the 55th anniversary of the restoration of the People’s Republic of China’s lawful seat in the United Nations and Commemoration Day of Taiwan’s Restoration. Around 20 journalists from Lesotho’s state media outlets, including Lesotho News Agency and LTV, as well as the country’s three major mainstream newspapers, attended the event.

Ambassador Yang Xiaokun elaborated on the historical significance of the two commemorations, highlighting China’s contributions to upholding the authority of the United Nations, practicing multilateralism and building a community with a shared future for humanity. He emphasized that Taiwan’s restoration to China was an important outcome of the victory in World War II and an integral part of the post-war international order. He stressed that the authority of UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 is unquestionable. Ambassador Yang urged Lesotho’s media to uphold the one-China principle, report on Taiwan-related issues objectively and accurately, and jointly safeguard the political foundation of China–Lesotho friendship.

Ambassador Yang also answered questions from journalists on UN General Assembly Resolution 2758, the one-China principle, the four Global Initiatives, and the four principles put forward by President Xi Jinping on the constructive participation of relevant parties in the resolution of African hotspot issues.
