The Right Honorable Prime Minister Mosisili Inspects the National Convention Centre

On July 28, 2016, The Right Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Mosisili and the First Lady inspected the refurbished National Convention Centre. Dignitaries accompanying the Prime Minister were Honorable Metsing, the Deputy Prime Minister, and more than 20 Cabinet Ministers, Principle Secretaries and senior officials from the Ministries of the Government of Lesotho. Dr. Sun Xianghua, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Lesotho, Counsellor Zhang Changwei and Counsellor Ma Guoliang also attended the function.

 

The Lesotho Notional Convention Centre was constructed and donated by the Chinese government in 1990s, and was refurbished by Chinese Company during a period from 2014 to 2016 at the request of the Lesotho government.

After inspecting the facilities of the Convention Center, His Honorable Prime Minister Mosisili and his accompanies participated a relaunch ceremony in the auditorium, on which His Right Honorable PM Mosisili, Ambassador Sun and Her Honorable Tampane, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture addressed the guests respectively.

His Honorable PM Mosisili spoke highly of the significance and functions of the Centre, and wished the relaunch of the centre could benefit the Peoples of both Lesotho and China. He highly appreciated China's great supports for the infrastructure construction and other economic and social developments of Lesotho, and praised the high quality of the constructions by the Chinese companies. The PM expressed, on behalf of the Government of Lesotho, his heartfelt appreciations to the Government and the People of China. The PM spoke highly of the long-standing friendship between China and Lesotho, and reiterated that Lesotho would unwaveringly adhere to the One China Policy and promote the China-Lesotho friendship to new heights.

Ambassador Sun extended his appreciation to the PM and all the dignitaries for presenting the relaunch ceremony. He pointed out the Centre had become a symbolic architecture of the China-Lesotho friendship, which would make huge contribution to the economic, social and cultural development of Lesotho. He was confident that the bilateral friendship would bear more fruits under the joint efforts of the two Peoples and Governments of China and Lesotho.
