Notice of Requirements for China-bound Passengers to Obtain COVID-19 Negative Certificates of Both Nucleic Acid and Anti-body Blood Tests

In order to contain cross-border transmission of COVID-19, as from 10th February 2021, all Chinese and foreign passengers who are to fly from Lesotho to China will be required to take both nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests for COVID-19 and then apply for a Green Health Code with the "HS" mark (for Chinese citizens only) or a Green Health Declaration Code with the "HDC" mark before boarding the flight. The specific requirements are as follows:

I. Test Requirements

(i) Passengers flying from Lesotho to China via connecting flights in other countries or regions must take nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests in Lesotho and then take both tests again in the transit countries or regions. Passengers must apply at the Chinese embassies/consulates in both countries for green health codes with the "HS" mark or a Green Health Declaration Code with the "HDC" mark with negative certificates of both tests.

(ii) The first tests must be taken in Lesotho. All Chinese and foreign passengers who are to fly from Lesotho to China will be required to take both nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests for COVID-19 within 48 hours before boarding flights and obtain the negative certificates of both tests. 

All Chinese and foreign passengers who are to fly from Lesotho to China will be required to take both nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests for COVID-19 at the testing facilities designated by the Chinese Embassy in Lesotho. (iii)The second tests of both nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests for COVID-19 must be taken in the transit countries or regions which have direct flights to China, within 48 hours before boarding flights,and obtain the negative certificates of both tests. Requirements for China-bound passengers from South Africa can be found at the website of the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of South Africa. 

II. How to Apply for Green Health Codes (For Chinese Citizens Only)

(i) Chinese citizens should upload photos of their COVID-19 negative certificates of both nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests, passports and itineraries to the WeChat mini program COVID-19 Prevention Health Code International Version ASAP after obtaining both said test reports.

 

 

 

(ii) Passengers upon approval by the Chinese Embassy will obtain Green Health Codes with an "HS" mark for a certain validity period. All passengers are required to travel within the validity period, and cooperate with airlines for health codes checking.

 

 

 

 

III. How to Apply for Certified Health Declaration Forms (For Foreign Citizens Only)

(i) Foreign passengers should log in the application program by visiting https://hrhk.cs.mfa.gov.cn/H5/ or scan the code mark below with your phone, and upload photos of your negative certificates of both nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests, passports, itineraries to the program after obtaining both said test reports.

 

 

 

 

(ii) Passengers upon approval by the Chinese Embassy will obtain a Green Code of Health Declaration Form with "HDC" mark for a certain validity period. All passengers are required to travel within the validity period, and cooperate with airlines for checking.

 

 

 

 

IV. Important Reminders

(i) Those who fail to get COVID-19 negative certificates of both nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests, Green Health Codes with "HS" marks or a Green Health Declaration Code with the "HDC" mark will be denied boarding the relevant flights and have to change their itineraries.

(ii) As for the validity period of both Codes, they shall be valid through the third day from the collection date of sample. For example, the passenger will fly to China on 10 December 2020, so he/she can get tested and obtain test results at any time during 8th to 10th December 2020. Considering that the turnaround time, all passengers are expected to make applications for said Codes immediately when obtaining both tests results.

(iii) Passengers who must go to China via connecting flights, should check the transit country's entry regulations and its nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests requirements before the journey. Failures to enter the transit countries or regions, meet the requirements regarding the tests and hold the green codes could result in being stranded and heightened infection risks.

(IV) Considering the risk in travel during the epidemic, passengers are advised not to travel unless it is necessary and urgent, and for those who have already taken the tests, please stay at home and take strict self-isolation measures.

( V) The Embassy's Supplementary Notice announced on 12 November 2020 will become invalid simultaneously when this notice comes into effect on 10 February 2021. If there is any further information, the Embassy will announce it at this website immediately.
