On November 13, Ambassador Yang Xiaokun traveled to the Butha-Buthe District of Lesotho to attend the launch event of the Green Village Initiative and participate in a tree planting activity. The initiative, launched by the Hololo Development Foundation, aims to promote low-carbon environmental protection and encourage efforts to address the climate crisis.
Attendees included Lesotho’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Hon. Lejone Mpotjoane, Minister of Environment and Forestry Hon. Letsema Adontsi, local chiefs, members of Parliament, and the local community.
Ambassador Yang emphasized important concepts such as "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature, and exercising power for the people. He also introduced China’s achievements in greening and expressed China’s willingness to work with all countries, including Lesotho, to deepen cooperation in environmental protection, clean energy and other areas, contributing more to global climate governance.
Minister Mpotjoane and Minister Adontsi, among others, expressed gratitude for China’s strong support and assistance in Lesotho’s environmental protection and improving people's livelihoods. They also stated their commitment to learn from China’s experience and wisdom and continue promoting green and sustainable development in Lesotho.
