On September 25, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Lesotho held a reception to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Approximately 400 attendees were present, including the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the National Assembly of Lesotho, seven cabinet ministers including the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, former dignities, members of Senate and Parliament, government officials, diplomatic Corps in Lesotho, representatives from Chinese enterprises and communities.
In his speech, Ambassador Yang Xiaokun highlighted the great historical achievements of the past 75 years and the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He expressed China’s willingness to work hand in hand with Lesotho to elevate the China-Lesotho strategic partnership to new heights.
The Hon. Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Moteane, also delivered a speech, congratulating the People's Republic of China on its 75th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Lesotho. He thanked China for the long-standing support and assistance in Lesotho’s economic development and improvement of people’s livelihoods. Moteane reaffirmed Lesotho’s commitment to the one-China principle and support for China’s complete reunification.
The reception was lively and warm, with many mainstream media outlets, and attracted widespread coverage.
