Symposium on 2019 China-aid Human Resources Development Cooperation Program held at the Chinese Embassy in Lesotho

On 5 December 2019, Symposium on 2019 China-aid Human Resource Development Cooperation Program was held at the Chinese Embassy in Lesotho. Mr. Ma Guoliang, Economic and Commercial Counsellor, presided over the symposium. H.E. Mr. Lei Kezhong, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Lesotho, Hon. Tlohelang Aumane, Minister of Development Planning, officials from related departments, over 40 representatives of the trainees and the media were present at the symposium.

 

In his remarks, Ambassador Lei indicated that in the past 25 years since the resumption of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Kingdom of Lesotho, bilateral relations have developed steadily. Under the framework of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, pragmatic collaboration in various fields including capacity building, one of the Eight Major Initiatives has been deepened. This year, we have organized about 300 Basotho to attend relevant trainings in China, making the total number of Lesotho trainees over 3000. And these training courses were carefully selected based on the four key priority areas of the National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP II).

 

Hon. Tlohelang Aumane, Minister of Development Planning, thanked for the assistance from the Chinese Government, such as the Human Resources Cooperation Program, Maseru District Hospital Project, Maseru Fire Station Project, Maseru Agriculture Storage and Logistic Infrastructure Project, Mafeteng Solar Power Plant Project, etc. And he stated that the issue of human development is at the crux of the implementation of any plan, and as we are implementing NSDP II currently we acknowledge that it is through knowledgeable personnel that the target will be attained. He appeals to all the trainees to take good advantage of this assistance and make sure its impact will be felt by future generations.
