Recently, the 14^th Chinese Medical Team, together with some local Chinese held a free medical treatment and donation event at St. Paul School for the Deaf in Leribe district. H.E. Mr. Lei Kezhong, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Lesotho, Hon.'Manthabiseng Phohleli, Deputy Minister of Health, Mr. Hlompho Mpeta, Deputy Principal Secretary of Ministry of Health, Mr. Ma Guoliang, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, senior officials of the Lesotho Government, all members of 14^th Chinese medical team, representatives of Chinese Communityand Chinese enterprises in Lesotho, and journalists from Lesotho and China Guang Dong TV attended the Event.

In his speech, Ambassador Lei commended that since the arrival of the 14^th Chinese medical team, the team members have overcome difficulties and rapidly adapted to the new environment, and actively dedicated to their medical work. They have made remarkable progress in their job in a short period of time. He hoped and believed that the team members would carry forward the spirit of the Chinese medical team and make new contributions to enhance the health care cooperation between China and Lesotho, and promote the friendship between the people of the two countries.

Hon. 'Manthabiseng Phohleli, on behalf of the Lesotho Government, thanked the Chinese Government and the Chinese medical teams for the support and assistance they provided in the field of health care over the years. She also expressed appreciation to the Chinese Embassy in Lesotho for the latter efforts in facilitating the projects between the two sides.

In the event, the Chinese medical team provided medical services such as health examination and disease diagnosis for the students, and the local Chinese also donated food and other daily goods for the school. Since 1997, China has sent 14 batches and 157 medical team members to work in Lesotho. So far, the Chinese medical teams have treated more than 500,000 local patients.
