In his speech, Ambassador Lei said that since 1997, the Chinese Government has sent 13 medical teams and more than 150 doctors to work in Lesotho, making positive contributions to improving the local medical care quality and promoting health exchanges and cooperation between China and Lesotho. Ambassador Lei highly praised and affirmed the achievements of the 13th Chinese medical team in the past year. He also warmly welcomed the arrival of the 14th Chinese medical team, and encouraged them to make new contributions to the development of China-Lesotho friendly relations.
Ambassador Lei pointed out that over the past 25 years since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Lesotho, the bilateral relations between the two countries have enjoyed stable development. China has been extending its assistance to Lesotho to the best of its capacity. China will work together with African countries including Lesotho to advance the Belt and Road Initiative, and build an even stronger China-Africa community with a shared future,

'Manthabiseng Phohleli, on behalf of the Lesotho Government, expressed great thanks to the 13th Chinese medical team for providing professional medical services to the Basotho people, and the generous assistance the Chinese Government has been given to Lesotho in the field of health care. She said that the Ministry of Health would continue to give full support to the 14th Chinese medical team.
In his remarks, Hon. Mokoto Hloaele said that he had greatly benefited from the acupuncture treatment of Chinese medical team. He commended that the hard work and exquisite medical skills of the 13th Chinese medical team will remain in the hearts of the Lesotho people. He hoped that China and Lesotho would continue to maintain long-term cooperation in the field of healthcare and promote the development of the China-Lesotho friendship.
Dr. Li Jin, the team leader of the 13th Chinese medical team, said that in the past year, the Chinese medical team has treated 11,100 local patients, completed more than 1,400 operations, carried out 3 medical tours in the remote mountainous areas of northern Lesotho, and held 3 free medical service activities. Dr. Zuo Wei, team leader of the 14th Chinese medical team, introduced the members of the new medical team. He said that on the basis of the former Chinese medical teams'endeavors, they would continue to carry forward the spirit of the Chinese medical teams, and strive to make new contributions to the promotion of health care cooperation between China and Lesotho and the development of bilateral friendship.
