Political Counsellor of Chinese Embassy Mr. Song Changqing Attended Agricultural Donation Ceremony by China-Lesotho People-to-People Friendship Action Fund in Maseru

 On 16th November 2017, Mr. Song Changqing, the Political Counsellor of the Embassy of P. R. China in Lesotho attended an Agricultural donation ceremony held by the China-Lesotho People to People Friendship Action Fund in Maseru. Mrs. Thibeli, the Spouse of former Ambassador of Lesotho to China, the area Chiefs, beneficiary villagers and representatives of the Chinese Community also attended the ceremony.

 

Counsellor Song together with representatives of the Fund handed over 200 bags of seeds and fertilizers to 50 needy families to support the latter's spring plough.

 

Counsellor Song in his speech commended the Fund for continuously extending helping hands to the needy Basotho through donations of borehole, water catchments, agricultural inputs and bursaries, and for its contribution in promoting the China-Lesotho Friendship. He indicated that for years the Chinese government has been assisting Lesotho to develop agriculture and enhance food security, through food aids, agricultural training programs, etc. Counsellor Song pointed out that as the socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered into a new era, the China-Africa and China-Lesotho friendship and practical cooperation will also open a new page.

 

Mrs. Thibeli extended appreciations to the Chinese community for sending this timely presents to the villagers for their spring plough. She encouraged the beneficiaries to make full use of the donations and work hard for a good harvest and better lives. She praised the Chinese community as well, for their consistent assistance to the needy Basotho and giving back to the local communities.

 

Mr. Li Wenshu, the Vice Director of the Fund committed that the Fund will continue participating charitable programs and helping to improve the local people's lives, and play its part in promoting China-Lesotho friendship.
