Hand-over Ceremony of Water Supply Projects Held by China-Lesotho People-to-People Friendship Action Fund in Thaba-Tseka

On 20 October 2017, Mr. Song Changqing, Charge d'affaires a.i. and Political Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Lesotho, attended the hand-over ceremony of the water supply projects in Thaba-Tseka by China-Lesotho People-to-People Friendship Action Fund. Hon. Tlohelang Aumane, Minister of Development Planning, Mr. Muso Jane, District Administrator of Thaba-Tseka, and representatives of local government officials, traditional leaders, church leaders, beneficiary villagers and Chinese community in Thaba-Tseka also attended the event.

 

The Action Fund sponsored two local villages to construct facilities to conserve water source, store and deliver water. On the event, Mr. Song, Hon. Aumane, and representatives of the Fund unveiled the facilities.

 

In his remarks, Mr. Song commended the Chinese community's efforts to do various charities through the Action Fund and encouraged them to continue giving back to the local community. He called on the local community to help the Chinese and create a safe and fine environment to boost investment and cooperation. Mr. Song also briefed about the 19th National Congress of the Community Party of China and pointed out that, as the socialism with Chinese characteristics enters a new era and as China is devoted to building a community of shared future for mankind, our two countries and two peoples will benefit further from China's development.

 

Hon. Aumane thanked the Chinese government for its continuous help to Lesotho in many areas and appreciated the Chinese businessmen's active participation in helping local community. He called on the local community to protect the Chinese community and use the projects in a fine way.

 

Mr. Xue Feng, on behalf of the Action Fund, thanked the local government and community's joint effort to make the projects a success and hoped the villages wouldn't suffer from lacking of water. Representatives of the traditional leaders and villagers spoke out to express their gratitude and the representative of the local businessman appreciated the Chinese businessmen for setting a good example.
